Some further data:
The thought was to run a full node on a Pi 4/5 and have it sit on my desk. So it have to be passive cooled to be silent. Sadly I didn't discover a case that met my excessive design necessities so I cnc-machined my very own from aluminum.
My necessities: The Pi 4 and 5 have their USB-C and Ethernet ports on totally different sides so cables stick out in numerous instructions which doesn't look nice. Moreover I needed to make the most of a NVME SSD and have the whole setup cooled passively.
Parts: – RPI CM4 (CM5 wasn't out mid 2024) – Waveshare CM4-IO-BASE-C board – 1 TB M2 NVME SSD – CNC-machined aluminum case & lid – thermal pad – screws, studs, bumpers, small elements
Tremendous pleased with the end result. Seems nice and is totally silent. Value roughly €400.
